The Wild Bees of Montana project, slated to take 15 years to complete, is in its fifth year. The bees collected range in size from no bigger than the head of a pin to roughly the size of a half-dollar. “I think nowadays a lot of people probably think there’s not a lot left to be discovered. And I feel like my mind has been blown every time we find something, a new genus, or a new species in the state that I’ve never seen before.”
